Development: The committee would like to thank all of those
that responded to the Development Committee Form from September, and
they will soon be contacting those families. The committee is
working on that as a short-term goal. The long term goals of the
committee are to: establish an Annual Fund, initiate an
alumni/friends of St. Joseph newsletter, strengthen alumni relations
through an alumni get- together during Catholic Schools Week, assist
in creating a database of resources. There was a discussion that
the Development and Fundraising committees will meet to discuss the
organization and specific duties of each committee.
b.
Enrichment: The new Fall Enrichment Brochure went out in the
family welcome envelopes. Please note that there was an error for
Chess Club: The dates are correct (Sept 23 through December 2) but
the wrong day was listed. This club will meet on Tuesdays.
Registration forms and payments are due during the second week of
September for most clubs.
c.
Fundraising: The magazine drive is in full swing and seems
to be on track for another successful year. As an optional
fundraising event, the Dinner and Theatre Plus books will be sold
for $15. More information will be coming concerning this event.
Planning is just beginning for this upcoming Gala. Date, time and
theme are the first order of business. A letter has been sent out
indicating the positions that are in need of volunteers. If anyone
can help in anyway, please contact Doreen Salamone @
DoreenSalamone@rochester.rr.com or @ 738-8038.
d.
Public Relations: There was coverage of the first day of
school by RNEWS, and it will also be in the Catholic Courier and the
Penfield Post. The visions for PR this year will be to create and
maintain a positive and proactive publicity effort for St. Joseph’s
School. Correspondence has been sent to the teachers requesting
assistance in keeping PR informed on newsworthy occurrences in
classrooms. A “suggestion box” will be implemented that will allow
members of the school community to express ideas for positive change
and comments. Correspondence to the school community will be sent
asking for suggestions on newsworthy material that PR can then
publicize.
e.
Special Events: Sunday, September 21, 2008 will be the
Parish/School Picnic will Mass at 11:00 am and the picnic to follow
from 12:00 – 4:00 pm. There will be clowns, games and a DJ with
music. Friday, October 24 will be the Halloween Sock Hop from 5:30
until 8:30 pm. March 6, 2009 will be the Winter Carnival.
f.
Technology: Using monies from the 1st Gala event, all new
computers (a total of 31) were purchased for the lab, and computers
from the lab were moved into some of the classrooms. Some computers
will need to be upgraded with memory in the future. Future projects
include having the white boards placed onto walls, and looking into
staff training and development using the white boards.
g.
