Call to Order

Sr. Christina opened the meeting with a prayer, and Peter Caines moved to begin the meeting.

Attendance

Attendance was taken by the Secretary.

 

3.

Secretary’s report

The minutes of the November meeting were approved with changes.  Peter moved and Debbie seconded for the minutes to be approved.

 

4.

Treasurer’s report

Peter moved and Debbie seconded to accept the December and January Treasurer reports.

~. There were not any requests for money at this time.

~The selling of gift cards for SCRIP was tremendous for the month of December both at school and after Masses.  Thank you all for participating in this program.

 

5.

Principal’s report

~ NYS ELA testing will be from January 7-10 for grade 4 and from January 14-17 for grade 6.  Learning celebrations will be January 22-25 for grades 3-6.

~ CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK:   “Weaving a Tapestry of Faith”  theme. Mass will be on Sunday, January 27 at 11:00 am.  Children are asked to wear their school uniform to Mass.  At 12:00 pm there will be a Coffee Hour in the gym.  All are welcome.  The Book Fair will also be open at this time.

~***** ROLLER SKATING**** in the gym on Friday February 1.  We are in need for parent volunteers for the Kindergarten and 1st grade time of skating.  If anyone can help, please contact the school office.

Committee Reports

a.       DEVELPOMENT:  Dianne Amuso has volunteered to be the chair for this committee.  She has already begun to search for grants for our school.  Katie Barber and Linda Wojciechowski have also volunteered their time to join the team.  Thank you Dianne, Katie and Linda!!!

b.      ENRICHMENT:  The registration has begun with a very brisk enrollment.  If necessary, more cooking clubs will be added.  Maria will work with the teachers if this is necessary.  Ann Pitlock will also be teaching beginning Spanish.  Information on this will be sent home. 

c.       FUNDRAISING:  Jackie Vigliotti is continuing to prepare for the WINE TASTING AND AUCTION that will take place on SATURDAY MARCH 29 at the PENFIELD COUNTRY CLUB.  The theme is “Springtime in Paris.”  Doreen mentioned that auction items are still needed for the Gala.  Contact Jackie (585-752-8970) or Doreen (585-388-1073) if you able to help with the Gala.

        d. PUBLIC RELATIONS:  The Penfield Post did attend the 2nd Grade pie-baking event on November 19.   An article was also sent out regarding Brownie Troop # 686 collecting cases of cookies to be donated to the troops in Iraq.  The media will also be contacted to cover some of the Catholic Schools Week events.

e.        SPECIAL Events: Roller skating and the ice cream social will take place on Friday, February 1 during Catholic Schools Week.

  ** WINTER CARNIVAL** will be on Friday, March 7, 2008 from 5:30 until 8:30 pm.  Janine will soon contact volunteers.

       f.   TECHNOLOGY:  Mike reported that the committee did meet and created a “to do list” of projects in the school.  They will soon begin work on the computers. 

g.        WELCOMING:  Sunday, January 27, the committee will assist Sister Christina with the Coffee Hour after Mass. Wednesday, January 30, the school will be open for perspective parents to tour the school.  If anyone can volunteer to help with the tours, contact Monica (315-986-1346).
