Call to Order

Sr. Christina opened the meeting with a prayer, and Peter Caines moved to begin the meeting.

Attendance

Attendance was taken by the Secretary.

 

3.

Secretary’s report

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with changes.  Peter moved and Debbie seconded for the minutes to be approved.

 

4.

Treasurer’s report

a.)    The Chairs from each committee were asked to submit to Julie a proposed budget for their respective committees for the school year.  Julie and Sr. Christina will finalize the SAC   budget by the next board meeting.

b.)    Jackie requested $500 for the deposit for the Penfield Country Club for the Wine tasting and Auction.

Janine requested $50 for the deposit for the DJ for the Halloween Dance.

All requests were approved.

Principal’s report

~ Picture day was on Wednesday and Thursday.

~Standardized testing began on Wednesday, October 10 and will continue until Friday October 12.

~The Fire Department visited the school on Wednesday, October 10.

~Sr. Christina will be in Albany next weekend with the Coalition of Independent and Religious Schools to meet with NY State SED to discuss and negotiate funds and monies from the district and the state.

~The teachers are continuing to work on the presentation for the Middle States Accreditation in April.

~On October 26, is a Faculty Retreat Day at Resurrection Parish.  A speaker will present:  Nurturing Your Spirit.

~In November Sr. Christina will be in Michigan to assist her Providence.

~ Some students have entered an Automobile Contest with the help of Mrs. Waite by making a flyer, letter, and a poster. 

~Some students will be participating in a poetry contest.

~For “Make A Difference Day” the students will be asked to help clean the St. Joseph Church pews.

 

6.

Committee Reports

a.       DEVELPOMENT:  Sr. Christina and Debbie are currently working on securing a Chair and a Co Chair.

b.      ENRICHMENT:  Organization has begun for planning next semester’s club activities.

c.       FUNDRAISING:

1.  Jackie Vigliotti is continuing to prepare for the WINE TASTING AND AUCTION that will take place on SATURDAY MARCH 29 at the PENFIELD COUNTRY CLUB.  The proposed theme is “Springtime in Paris.” Jackie will be contacting volunteers in the next week to meet and discuss planning for the event.  Donation forms with the school’s tax exempt number will be sent home soon to the parents.

2.  Thus far, 34 Dinner/Theater Coupon Books have been sold, with a profit of $255.00 *This is an optional fund raiser and will end on October 19.  *

3.  The Wreath and Poinsettia Sale will be on November 29.  Order forms will go out Wednesday, October 31 and orders will be accepted through November 13.  Pick up day will be Thursday, November 29.  The volunteers will be contacted soon. 

        d. PUBLIC RELATIONS:  Julie has already begun to archive photos from the school of students and the school.  The Penfield Post will be at the school for Mrs. Carey’s and her class Bob the Builder Theme and also for the Halloween Dance.

        e. SPECIAL EVENTS:

            1. The school’s next family oriented event will be the Halloween Dance on Friday, October 26th from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm in the school gym.  We hope to see everyone there!  The cost is $4.00 per child and adults are free but an adult must accompany children.  Please RSVP by Wednesday, October 24th.

             2.  The Winter Carnival will be on Friday, March 7, 2008.

         f. TECHNOLOGY:  Sr.  Christina is looking for volunteers to work on the technology committee to maintain computers both hardware and software in the school.  

         g. WELCOMING:  Thanks to all who filled out the survey.   The information is currently being compiled to be reviewed by the committee. 

               

 

7.

Other

Maretta will contact the Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leaders to discuss and explore options for service projects in the church.
