Committee Reports

Principal’s report:

Enrollment for the 2006/2007 school year is looking good for next year.  We are loosing a few families who are moving out of town, but are gaining new families and have  just welcomed two new students to St. Joe’s this past month.  There is a waiting list for Pre-   K4, Pre-K 3 is full, and Kindergarten only has a few open spaces left.  The upper grades are all at two classroom capacity.

Our Alumni list is increasing as our 50th anniversary committee works hard to find past students of St. Joe’s.

 Development

The planning of the 50th Anniversary of St. Joseph’s school is coming to a close.  Invitations have been mailed and all aspects of the event have been planned.  Thank you to all of the volunteered who made this event possible.

Enrichment

All clubs are underway and going well.  The need for more sports oriented clubs was raised and suggestions are welcome.  Some form of Martial arts will be considered for a club option for the fall. A Drama club will be available for K-3 as well to give all students a chance to experience this form of art.

Someone is needed to Chair this committee to oversee the fall brochure and accept return forms.   Mrs. Nuijens is coordinating Enrichment until that time.

 Fundraising

The Niagara Chocolate fundraiser was a huge success.  Thank you to Peter and Margaret Caines for coordinating this event and volunteering to do so next year as well.  The sale may be held a week or two earlier next year to accommodate out of town orders for the Easter holiday.  This event raised over $3,000 for St. Joe’s as well as earned money in school tuition credit by the families who sold chocolate.  A portion of the proceeds will also be used towards our Fair Share program.

The Plant Sale is up and running thanks to Lori Ioele.  The plant orders are due April 28th and plants will be available for pick up on May 12th or May 26th between the hours of 1 and 6.  Wambach Farms is supplying the plants at below retail cost to help raise funds for St. Joseph’s school.

Public Relations

The Catholic Currier will run a ½ page ad for the St. Joseph’s 50th Anniversary Dinner.

Special Events
The Spring Carnival was a huge success.   The total in attendance was 80 families and 66 volunteers.   The carnival raised $1210.73. Thanks goes out to all the many parent volunteers who made this event the success that it was.  A special thanks to Caroline Kurzweil, our Special Events Chair, and Mary Jo Mansour our Special events Co Chair for all of your hard work. Thank you to Tracy Dovi as well for coordinating all of our carnival volunteers.

“Jimmy C’s Music Machine”, has been booked for the Halloween Dance on October 27th, 2006 from 7 to 9pm.

School Picnic date for the Fall –September 10th, 2006

Ice Cream Social will be held on the last Friday of Catholic Schools Week in 2007
