 The meeting was called to order.  Sr. Christina opened with a prayer.

Feb.  SAC Minutes

 

No changes.  No changes, unanimous approval.

 

Financial Report

§         Financial report was sent to all. It was looked over and reviewed.

§         There are still some small expenses not shown in the current financial report. These include DARE items, field trip expenses, and committee budgets.

§         All deposits from silent auction have not yet been included as the report is through February and the auction occurred in March.           

§         No SAC funds have been requested at this time.

 

Committee Reports

Principal’s Report

§         SAC extends its sympathy to Mary Cody and her family for the recent loss of her Father-in-law.

§         Sample for ELA testing for grades K-8 have been sent out.  NY State will be implementing the test in all grades beginning next year.  The ELA test has been revised, and St. Joseph’s School will be piloting the new test for grades 4-5 in May of this year. 

§         Friday March 11 is a Staff Development Day. Staff will be looking at curriculum and programs such as character building.

§         The Irish Dancers will be coming to the school on Thursday, March 17th.

§         The school will again hold a soup lunch for the students on March 23rd. Set up will be in the gym on Tuesday  evening, 3/22. Volunteers are asked to come and help set up tables.

§         National Catholic Educational Conference for next year will be held in New Orleans. 

§         At this time, school enrollment for 2005-06, is up to 354. New families are still coming in.  At this time, we are 44 under our present enrollment.

§         REMINDER --April 1st is the deadline for financial aide form for next year. ALL families enrolling in Catholic Schools are encouraged to fill out form and submit it by April 1.  The Diocese and families will be notified of their status by the middle of May.   Note: All information is confidential.

Development

§         No report at this time. Plans are still being made for the St. Joseph School 50th Anniversary celebration.

Enrichment

§         Enrichment clubs are all doing well. Considering breaking the Science Club into two sessions to better accommodate children. Notes will be sent to parents.

Fundraising

§         Auction was a tremendous success. Budget amount of  $8500. was met. Thank you to Kelley Callahan and Dane Overfield for all their hard work in making the auction a smooth success!!

 

§         Plant sale will again take place in the spring. Forms will be sent out in the beginning of April.  Deliveries will again take place for Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekend.

 

Public Relations

§         The Penfield Post went to Helmer Nature Center along with the first grades. They plan on coming to school for the quilting project and the ending ceremony for the DEAR program.

Special Events

§         Spring Carnival scheduled for April 8, 2005, 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. Volunteer lists and game schedules should be completed by March 22nd.                Prizes have been selected through Fun Services. Games will be delivered from Fun Services April 8th   at 8 a.m. and stored on stage until set up at 2:00 p.m. Prize table set up will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8th.

§         Envelopes for ticket sales have been coming in daily.  Ticket sales will continue until day before Carnival.

§         Staff and Father Kevin will be sent invitations with food/drink coupons enclosed.

Technology

§         Technology Committee will be holding a meeting next week

Welcoming

§         Tours during Catholic Schools week went well. Many new families came to the open house.

 Other Topics/Discussion

SAC Openings for the year

§          Certain SAC positions are still open this year, as well as other committee terms which will expire at the end of this year. At this time, we are in need of a chair and co-chair for PR, and a co-chair for fundraising. Please contact any committee member for information about these positions.

 

  2004-2005 SAC Meetings

§         SAC would like to emphasize that ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN to any parent or guardian who wishes to attend.  Meetings are held in the school library on the second Wednesday of each month. Prior notification of attendance is not necessary, and participation in any discussion is encouraged. Minutes from the previous meeting will be included in the Wednesday folder for parents to read. The next meeting will be held in Wednesfay May 11th.
