 The meeting was called to order.  Sr. Christina opened with a prayer.

Oct.  SAC Minutes

 

No changes.  P. Knauf moved to approve; seconded by K. Callahan; unanimous approval.

 

Budget Review

§         The current year budget was reviewed.  There were no requests for SAC funding.  In the budget report, the final bill from the magazine drive was not yet included, so total was slightly different. Budget report was looked over and approved by all.

Committee Reports

Principal’s Report

§         Standardized Testing reports are in, these are for the Terra Nova and the Achievement tests. Results are being put together and will be sent out to parents in the Wednesday envelopes around the first week in December.

§         The Christmas Musical – Something’s Up Down in Bethlehem will be presented to parents on December 16th. Grades 1,3, and 4, are involved in singing, speaking, and choral parts. The tone chimes and band will also be participating.  Sr. Christina has been practicing with the children each week, and they will soon be ready for a great show!§         There will be more Safe Environment workshops scheduled. Any parent wishing to work in the classroom, or drive on field trips, must take on of these workshops this school year.

§         Sr. Christina will be attending the NYSCATE Technology conference in Rochester the weekend of Nov. 20 – 23.  She will share information received when she returns.

§         This is the 50th anniversary year of St Joseph’s School. We are still getting things arranged for a weekend type celebration with alumni. Letters will be sent to alumni.

§         The textbook issue is just about resolved. More textbooks have been coming in and all orders are almost complete

Development

§         No report at this time. Note 50th school anniversary information above.

Enrichment

§         Activities are continuing to run smoothly. Activities are being set up for next semester. A paper will be sent out asking for ideas.

Fundraising

§         The committee is ready to begin planning a fund raising event for March 2005. Volunteers are greatly needed. A meeting will take place on Monday, December 6th, at 8a.m. in meeting room #1 for all who wish to volunteer.

Public Relations

§         Channel 13 has been notified of the 3rd/6th grade quilt-making program.

§         The fourth grade classes are continuing to send letters to soldiers in Iraq.

§         The Pre-K 4 classes have been collecting International Phone Cards to send to a unit in Iraq. A father of one of the Pre-K 4 children is stationed there now, and they would like to provide the cards to his unit enabling them to call home to their families during their deployment. This will be open to the whole school.

§         Mrs. Gianetti , who  is the teacher aide in the Pre-K classroom has a son who is now stationed on the USS Kittyhawk in Japan.

Special Events

§         The Halloween Dance was again well attended. The costume contests were broken up into age groups. Congestion and crowding was more manageable due to a variety of activities.

§         Next event will be the ice-cream social. This will be held on February 18th to end Catholic Schools Week.

§         The Spring Carnival is set to be held on April 8th.

Technology

§         The three office computers as well as 10 computer lab machines are now upgraded with new IBM workstations.

Welcoming

§         Getting ready for Catholic Schools Week, which will be during the second week of February. We are looking for ways to publicize the walk through to invite new comers to our school.

 Other Topics/Discussion

  2004-2005 SAC Meetings

§         SAC would like to emphasize that ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN to any parent or guardian who wishes to attend.  Meetings are held in the school library on the second Wednesday of each month. Prior notification of attendance is not necessary, and participation in any discussion is encouraged. Minutes from the previous meeting will be included in the Wednesday folder for parents to read. There will be no December meeting. The next meeting will be held in January
