Budget Review – The budget was briefly reviewed.  L. King will work with Sr. Christina to format and present to parents the SAC Financial Information for this school year.  Information detailing purchases that were able to be made with monies raised through fundraising will be provided.

Committee Reports

Principal’s Report – May Crowning was celebrated May 1.  The prayer service was very nicely planned.  Spring Concert will be held Thursday, May 8.  NYS Testing of Math and Science for the 4th graders will be held over the course of the next two weeks.

Enrollment for the next school year is very good.  A few openings exist in PreK, and some grades, however, Kindergarten and other grade levels are accepting names to waiting lists.  Meet the Teachers Night has been scheduled for evenings in May.  Teachers will be providing information about next year’s expectations, curriculum and summer reading lists.

The week of June 24, Sr. Christina and the teachers will spend time planning for the overall 2003-04 school year.  The theme of next year will be “Faithful Past, Faith-filled Future”.

The Evening of Reflection for SAC previously planned for June will be postponed until fall due to scheduling conflicts with the intended facilitators.

Development – There has been a decline in the number of alumni registrations.  M. Malone sent an email to alumni who had provided email addresses to discern interest in holding a reunion event.  The responses received indicated that fall or Thanksgiving would be preferred to summer.

Enrichment – At this time it is unclear whether Creative Themes will be able to facilitate the Extracurricular activities next year.  The programs have been well received by both children and parents.  Alternatives will be addressed should Creative Themes be unavailable next year.

Fundraising – The spring plant sale is currently under way.  120 orders were placed with the bulk of the plants being delivered for Memorial Day.  Overall, comments on this event have been favorable.

Public Relations – No report.

Special Events – J. Caccavale will be meeting with Sr. Christina to discuss the timing of next year’s events.

Technology – NYS monies have been applied for.  Technology Night will possibly be moved to next fall.

SAC would like to express its thanks to John Myers for donating a digital camera to the school.  It has already been put to good use.

Welcoming – No report.

Other Topics/Discussion

Filling Open SAC positions – Fundraising Chair and Assistant Chair, Enrichment Assistant Chair, Development Assistant Chair and the PreK-3 Member-at-Large positions are open for this school year.  Additionally, the Development Chair and Enrichment Chair positions are unfilled for next year.  Names of interested candidates should be forwarded to Sr. Christina Marie or G. Hebert.  Additionally, a communication will be sent home to parents detailing what SAC’s role and responsibilities are and describing the various committees and the associated responsibilities.

Security Update – A small group of parents met with Fr. Kevin regarding security issues.  The importance of this issue is recognized by all and conversations will continue especially in light of the Parish Expansion.

The diocese is also addressing security concerns across the school system.

Tuition Model – No new information at this time.

Extension of School Day – Due to the anticipated NYS budget constraints, Penfield School District does not anticipate being able to consider extending the school day at this time.  Sr. Christina will continue to work toward this end.

Survey – A reminder will be sent in the May 7 Wednesday envelope indicating the final date for accepting surveys as Monday, May 12.  Results will be made available shortly thereafter.

Adjournment – D. Dedee Doyle moved for adjournment; M. Marconi seconded.  All approved.
