Entertainment Books Presentation
A representative from Entertainment Books did a presentation providing fundraising information from the sales of these highly popular discount/coupon books. 10NBC promotes the sales of these books every September and list all the schools names that are participating in the sales. In the early spring, 10NBC runs spots on the school’s achievements and how the funds were utilized. Students can sell the books locally and as well as out of town books and still get credit. Schools can receive from $1-$10 per book based upon a sliding scale of total number of books sold.

SAC has decided to have these books sold next school year.

March SAC Minutes
No changes. P. Moynihan moved to approve, seconded by L. King, unanimous approval.

Budget Review

  • There were no purchase order requests to review. Sr. Christina Marie did reserve the NCEA pricing on microscopes and SRA reading labs, this order will be placed soon.

  • HSBC Fees
We will maintain our account with HSBC. L. King was able to discuss with the branch manager the high amount of fees St. Joseph School incurred for multiple check deposits. These fees will be waived for past amounts as well as for the future.

  • Any budget requests for next year will be discussed at the next meeting.

Committee Reports

  • Principal’s Report – There has been no report from the Diocese regarding the report card survey that grades K-4 parents were asked to participate in. They are currently formulating the information in order to review. The 4th grade ELA and Math results that were recently published in the newspaper were discussed. Sr. Christina Marie along with the teachers have implemented some new ideas (timed math facts, etc.) with the students that will help them with memorization on these standardized tests. If any parents would like to discuss their child’s personal performance of these standardized tests, please let Sr. Christina Marie know and she would be happy to meet with them. The June testing for grades 3-6 will be laid out differently this year. There will be fewer number of testing hours each day and classroom reviews will be done during the school day.

  • Special Events – All events have been completed for the school year.

  • Technology – There are funds available from the NYS Software budget that will be utilized to purchase network versions of reading software for the classrooms. Over the last five years, SAC has spent $31,000 on related technology expenses for St. Joseph and IBM and employee families whose children attend St. Joseph have donated $41,000.

  • Welcoming – New families have been assigned an Ambassador family for next year. There will be playground get togethers over the summer so that the new students can meet other St. Joseph students. These dates are as follows:
