The Fundraising Committee coordinates several fund-raising activities throughout the school year.  Two significant fund-raisers are the Magazine Drive and the Annual Gala.

• Magazine Drive - The first major fund-raiser is the annual magazine drive held in September.  To get an early start with this fundraiser we have the magazine flyers and forms available outside the school office the last week in August.  Parent volunteers for the magazine drive are responsible for the accounting of daily magazine sales and prize distribution each day during the sale.  Parents can volunteer to work one or more days during the sale with times scheduled in the mornings and evenings.  A request for volunteers is typically sent out at the end of the school year in June, in the weekly family folders.  The funds raised from this event provide the School Advisory Committee with a significant portion of the general operating budget for the school year.  In 2008 the net proceeds were approximately $27,000.

• Annual Gala – In March 2008 we held our first annual dinner and auction and the net proceeds of $35,000 were used to benefit the technology needs of the school.   Due to the nature of this event, we are in need of many parent volunteers to help make this event a success.  We begin planning in early September and solicit parent volunteers as soon as possible.  We try to organize the tasks by committee and have several chairs to help manage the workload. For example, between October and February the Solicitation Committee is working hard to secure donations, advertising and sponsorship.  As donation items are received they are categorized, stored and priced for the auction.  New for 2009 Gala, we are asking parent volunteers to consider hosting a ‘gathering party’.  It’s a great way to socialize, meet new families and secure donation items for the Gala.  You can expect an invitation sometime in January and the Gala is typically held in late March.

Other fundraisers are as follows:

• Christmas Wreath Sale – every Christmas holiday season we sell Christmas wreaths and poinsettias.  A portion of the proceeds is donated to a charitable organization.  Volunteers are needed to help distribute the items in early December.

• Chocolate Candy Sale – every Easter holiday season we sell candy.
