“Faith-Full Past, Faith-Filled Future”

Dear Parents,

The beginning of a new school year is a special time for all of us--students, teachers, and parents.  A feeling of anticipation is perhaps sparked by new school supplies, new clothes, new teachers, and possibly new classmates.  Best of all is the thought that this is a fresh start, that this year will be a success.

To keep that feeling alive is essential, and members of the school staff are dedicated to that goal.   Education also entails a gift, the gift of time, talent and tenderness.  It often demands a gift of resources, energy and endurance.  The reward comes with the realization that we've enriched the life of a child and shared with that child the spirit of Jesus.

In this spirit, we ask that you, more than ever before,  make a special gift to your child:  the gift of your time.  We know that, busy as you are, it will not be easy; but we know also what a wonderful gift it can be.  Take time to listen.  Take time to share activities.  Take time to look over homework and class work.  Take time to shower your love and support.  Take time to be present for school activities and to help in their success.  The years of childhood go by swiftly.  Warm memories of shared moments will mean far more to your adult children than perfectly served meals and well-groomed lawns.  Therefore again, I invite you, to come and share your gifts of love, energy and time with all of us at St. Joseph’s.  Your gift will enable us to create opportunities to love your children and provide them with the very best.   We then will model the true hallmark of our school --”A Place with Heart”.

I consider it my privilege to be here at St. Joseph School and to serve you and your children as Principal.  Throughout the days of the coming year, it is my sincere wish and prayer, that together, we realize the gift we are to one another and especially to our children.  Jesus spoke clearly about giving and the way we ought to give:  generously, quietly and lovingly, even when it is difficult.  Giving is the core of human relationships, and it enriches our experience.  It can be conventional or creative, planned or spontaneous, simple or intricate.  But always, when it involves the gift of self, it brings joy to the recipient and the giver alike.

As you send your child off that first day of school and every day thereafter, gift them with your special care and love, and sign their foreheads with the sign of the cross, fortifying them with the spirit of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

To see God in each child and to reflect the love of God for each child is surely the way to make our school year a faith-filled, loving environment engaging the heart and soul of all.
