Admissions
Pre-School and Kindergarten
To be admitted to Pre-School, a
child must be 3 or 4 by December 1. A child must be 5 by December 1 to be
admitted to Kindergarten.
Pre-School through 6th Grade
In addition to the general
admission policies, if space is limited, the following priority procedures
will be followed:

Children currently registered in
Pre-School through Grade Five in St. Joseph School.

Children whose siblings are currently
registered in Pre-School through Grade Six in St. Joseph School, or in
grades seven and eight at Siena Catholic Academy.

Children, then grandchildren, of current
teachers at St. Joseph School.

Children of former students of St.
Joseph School.
-
Validated, registered parishioners from
Catholic parishes.

All others.
In the event of a capacity restraint for
any grade, names will be chosen by lottery and a waiting list will be
maintained.
Registration
Registration begins February 1st. You must bring a copy of your child's birth
certificate, copy of child's immunization record, child's social
security number and a $125.00 registration fee. Registration requests
will continue to be taken throughout the year based on availability.

First Bell: 7:45 AM
Final Bell: 7:55 AM
Dismissal: 2:00 PM
Early Dismissal: 11:00 AM
St. Joseph School is located in the Penfield Central School District.
If the school is to be closed because of weather conditions, the
announcement will be made on radio and television. If Penfield Central
School District closes, St. Joseph School will also be closed. Please
listen to the radio announcement on WHAM Am 1180 and TV channels which
announce school closings. Please do not call the school.

How
is acceptance at St. Joseph determined when there are not enough openings
for the number of students registering for a particular grade?
St.
Joseph’s School, whose enrollment is at or near capacity, shall accept
new registrations according to the following criteria (in priority order):

does registration occur?
Registration
occurs late winter through the school.
What
happens to the registration deposit if I am placed on the waiting list?
The
registration fee is refundable if a student’s name is removed from the
waiting list
Can
I apply to more than one Catholic school in the Diocese?
Yes
you may. A separate application form and deposit must accompany each
application. Please contact the Diocesan office with further questions.
Does
St. Joseph have a gifted and talented program?
St.
Joseph has an enrichment program called Project Discovery.
Students are selected by their teacher(s) for special activities in
specific subject areas such as math and science.
