Emergency Daytime School Closing Instructions
Click here to download as Word Document

In the event that school closes early due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the following telephone tree will be used to notify parents of the school closing/emergency:

The levels of the telephone tree are as follows:

1.      Authorized school personnel will contact all 16 Lead Room Parents.

2.      Lead Room Parents will contact up to 4 Asst. Room Parents (or designated volunteers).

3.      Asst. Room Parents will contact remaining (oldest child only) assigned parents in their class.

It will be the responsibility of each level of contact to remain available by telephone during the duration of the school emergency closing process.

Anyone who is not able to connect with their assigned contact list must continue the remaining calls so that there is not a break in the chain of communication.  In the event you are not able to make these calls, you must communicate that information back up to the level above you.

When you have completed all the calls in your assigned level, you must report back to the level above you so that the school will be notified when all the calls have been completed.

Room Parents will assist in compiling the telephone tree. Each level of the telephone tree will maintain copies of all the family’s contact numbers so that any given level can complete the remaining telephone chain.

The office will maintain a copy of the entire school’s telephone tree.  The Lead Room Parent will keep a copy of their whole class’ telephone tree. In addition, the Lead Room Parent will check the telephone numbers provided against the class list supplied and report any discrepancies to the office. The Assistant Room Parents will have a shorter list of their assigned classmates emergency telephone numbers.  It works best to keep students in the same bus district (from each class) in groups together in case only certain districts dismiss early.

Families new to the school subsequent to this communication will be added into the appropriate level at that time.
